The Pepas policy

Veterinary nurse programmes that want to use the Pepas exam system, must agree to follow this policy.

  1. The Pepas exam will consist of a minimum of eight tasks.
  2. When selecting tasks for the exam, at least six out of the seven skills as mentioned on the Pepas blueprint are covered.
  3. When selecting tasks for the exam, all 13 European competences will be covered over a period of four years.
  4. When not all skills or EC's are covered on the blueprint, a justification for this is added to the blueprint and send to the Vetnnet-Pepas committee.
  5. Schools/colleges will have to use a minimum of 50% generic tasks during the exam. The "generic tasks" are coded with a "G".
  6. The tasks are used as published on the website. When translated, the same number of steps must be used as the English version on the website.
  7. Marking sheets used for a Pepas exam must contain the same number of steps as the published tasks.
  8. Schools/colleges will each make a selection of a minimum of twenty tasks for each exam. This is the amount of tasks that students need to train / revise. These 20 tasks must cover all EC's and all practical skills as listed on the blueprint.
  9. Schools/colleges are required to teach all tasks that are relevant to their curriculum, not just the selected twenty.
  10. Schools/colleges are at liberty to announce the selection of twenty tasks between one month and one week prior to the exam.
  11. Schools/colleges are at liberty to change the tasks stations used in the exam on a daily basis over the course of the exam session should they with to.
  12. Schools/colleges wishing to do so can contact examiners from other countries to invite them as external examiners. This is encouraged by Vetnnet. Schools / colleges that are not Acovene accredited are required to use an external examiner.
  13. The exam should be organized in such a way that students cannot see the next station(s).
